Gulf als toonaangevend brandstoffenmerk is al 50 jaar – toen verscheen de eerste race auto in Gulf kleuren in de 24u van Le Mans – gekend om haar sponsoring in de motorsportwereld. Zo werd recent nog het driejarig technisch partnership met het door BMW ondersteunde Milwaukee BMW-team in de World Superbikes aangekondigd. Ook zal Gulf nog altijd acte de présence geven op Le Mans en gaat Gulf met haar eigen Racing Team en hun Porsche de strijd aan in het World Endurance Championship en is het partner bij de poging van Ian King om een tiende Top Fueldrag-titel binnen te slepen.
